Our Thoughts on Serving

New Song Church is committed to its mission: Turning unbelievers into fully devoted followers of Christ. We understand that becoming fully devoted followers involves many things. Principal among them is incorporating Christ’s example of servanthood into our daily walk thereby enabling us to grow in Him:

Instead, he emptied himself by taking on the form of a servant. Philippians 2:7
For whoever will save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for My sake and the gospel’s, he shall save it. Mark 8:35

We understand that having faith and knowledge of the Bible is vital, but without action it is worthless. . .

So then, as the body without the spirit is dead, also faith without actions is dead. James 2:26

We understand that the culture in many American churches today is consumer oriented rather than servanthood oriented:
Erwin McManus from his book, Unstoppable Force, speaking of the church in 21st century America:

Our motto has degenerated from “We are the church, here to serve a lost and broken world” to “What does the church have to offer me?” This move has made the pastor the only minister, while making the members the only recipients of ministry. What is lost in this process is an army of healers touching the planet, . . Are we too much about us getting fed and too little about us exercising our faith? (pg. 30-31)

We, the New Song Body of Christ, desire to be the arms that reach out and the hands that heal both in and outside the walls of the church.

You are Christ’s body and each of you is an individual part of it. 1Corinthians 12:27
